How To- The Bahamas on a Budget!

Bahamas is a great destination for the budget conscious traveler.

Our condo is located right in the heart of Cable Beach, water surrounds this beautiful piece of paradise, and a family of 5 can stay and play for only $40 USD per person per night.

This website will give you some great tips for travel to Bahamas without breaking the bank.
Nassau, Bahamas.

After all, everyone deserves a vacation!

Step 1 - Book your flight

Picture
There are hundreds of flights into Nassau from Canada, US and UK.  Visit Cheapoair.com for great deals.  If you're coming from Canada, we choose www.WestJet.com or aircanada.com, the choice is up to you.  US flights are available from all major carriers, including JetBlue.

Step II - Place to stay

Sandyport Resort, Nassau Bahamas

Prices start at $200/night for a property right by the Ocean.
If you're traveling with a friend or friends,  book this amazing AirBnB located at Sandyport Resort sleeps 5 comfortably so your cost would be under $200 per person for 5 nights.  You are entitled to use all the facilities at the attached resort

Other great properties to consider are:
Westwinds Club
Westwinds II
Bluewater Resort
Best Western Paradise Island
Sunrise Beach Villas
Sandyport Resort

All of these properties offer full kitchens which is very important when vacationing in The Bahamas on a Budget.

The Sandyport AirBnB property will be the savvy vacationer's best option - location and price wise!

Step 3 - Plan your food

Picture

One of the biggest costs away from home is food and drink - restaurants are expensive at home and away.
The grocery delivery business that made life so easy is no longer in business, but there is a grocery store within walking distance of the condo.
Plan your meals and set a budget.  Grocery prices are much higher in The Bahamas, but they are much cheaper than eating out at restaurants three times a day.  Beer is also expensive, but liquor and wine are affordable, and by affordable, we mean it's cheaper than water..

Step 4 - Plan your transportation

Order a Scooter for your visit.  Call the Scooter Rental company ahead of time to arrange for your scooter to be at the airport when you arrive.  This will save the cost of a taxi from the airport.  You can follow the scooter rental guy to your property.  Cost is $50/day for a scooter for 2 persons.

It's a sweet ride and gas will cost you about $5 for the entire trip!

Another option will be to take a Jitney bus - the number 10 goes from the Western end of the island to the downtown center and is $1.25 each way.

You can rent a car on Cheapoair, or hotwire, etc.

Step 5 - Pack Lightly and Go on Vacation!

Picture

Pack lightly - Try to fit everything you need for your vacation into a backpack.
You will save the baggage fees on your flight but don't forget: you won't be able to bring large containers of liquid.
However, you will save time at check in and gain over an hour of vacation time by not having to wait for your baggage to come off the plane and to clear customs.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive at 2pm (approximately)

Picture
  • Walk out of airport with backpack securely fastened to your back while everyone else waits for their bags - awesome!
  • Hop on your scooter, or in your car and take the spectacular drive along Nassau's beautiful north coast (don't forget to watch the road and stay left)
  • 10 minutes later, arrive at Nebruck House, Sandyport,  and check in with Jackie, our property manager.
  • Pour a drink and stroll down to the ocean for a dip.
  • When you've had enough of the sun, surf and sand, take a dip in the pool to wash the salt water and sand off.  Then back to the condo to cook up some burgers or hot dogs.  After dinner and a rest, as the heat of the day cools, take in a game of tennis, then a dip in the pool, followed by drinks poolside while you meet new friends.

Day 2 - Tour the island and party the night away!

Picture
After a good night's rest, and a great breakfast, hop on your scooter, or jump into your car for a ride out west to Sacred Space.  Sit at one of the picnic tables overlooking an endless turquoise Ocean and enjoy your picnic lunch.  Check out the Pirate Steps, then go for a hike along Clifton Heritage Park and take a swim in the Ocean at Jaws Beach.  Evening, take the car over to Paradise Island to visit the The Reef Atlantis casino - can you turn $20 into $100? However be careful drinks at Atlantas can get pricey!
